Robbery accused rearrested after release

The High Court has ordered the release of a Dublin man, charged in connection of an attempted robbery of a cash transit van in Co Kildare last November, after finding that his detention is unlawful.

Today at the High Court, following an inquiry under Article 40.4.2 of the Constitution of Ireland, Mr Justice John Edwards ruled that the continued detention of Mr Eamonn Dunne (aged 31) Dunsoughly Drive, Ratoath road, Finglas, Dublin 11 was unlawful on the grounds that a District Court judge had erred by extending the time for service of the book of evidence against Mr Dunne without hearing any evidence.
