Linda Mulhall appealing sentence for murder of mother’s boyfriend
A Dublin woman jailed for 15 years for killing her mother's boyfriend and dumping his body parts in the Royal Canal, will appeal against her sentence today.
The woman, 31-year-old Linda Mulhall, a mother of four of Kilclare Gardens in Tallaght, killed Farah Swaleh Noor along with her sister Charlotte at their mother's flat in Summerhill in Dublin.
Linda and Charlotte Mulhall had been drinking heavily with their mother and her boyfriend 38-year-old Farah Swaleh Noor in the city centre
They went back to their mother Kathleen's home in Summerhill where they took ecstacy.
During the trial last year the court heard he made a pass at Linda and Charlotte told him to get his hands off her before picking up a Stanley knife and cutting his throat.
Linda admitted hitting him on the head with a hammer, they dragged his body into the bathroom, cut it up and dumped it without the head into the canal.
Charlotte was sent down for life for his murder and Linda got 15 years for manslaughter.
Her lawyers are expected to argue that the sentence was excessive on the basis that she contacted the Gardaí about the crime and the jury accepted her defence of provocation.
