Murdered crime boss's inquest adjourned
An inquest into the death of murdered crime boss Martin Hyland was adjourned for six months today to allow gardaí time to investigate the killing.
Detective Inspector Colm Fox, from Blanchardstown Garda Station, asked for the hearing to be put back as the criminal investigation is ongoing.
Dublin County Coroner Dr Kieran Geraghty agreed to the adjournment and the inquest will be mentioned again in May next year.
Hyland, 39, was shot dead as he slept in a bed at his niece’s home in Dublin last December.
The ruthless killers also brutally murdered a young innocent bystander - 20-year-old apprentice plumber Anthony Campbell – who had been working in the house when they entered.
Hyland, who was one of the country’s biggest drug dealers, was shot six times in the head and body as he slept in an upstairs bedroom in a relative’s house.
Mr Campbell is believed to have been shot once downstairs.
It is understood Hyland had been warned by gardaí that his life was under threat and took steps to avoid attack by moving from house to house in the weeks before his death.
