His parents were present at the Children’s Court today as the teenager charged with their son’s killing was served with the book of evidence in the case.

Dressed in a white shirt, black trousers and navy blue tie the south Dublin teenager, who is in on bail, spoke once during the brief proceedings today.

He replied “yes” indicating that he understood when notified by Judge Bryan Smyth that if he intended to use an alibi during as part of his defence he must notify the prosecution within two weeks.

Defence solicitor Michelle Finan said it was a legal aid matter and Judge Smyth assigned two counsel.

He remanded the teenager, who was accompanied by his mother, to appear again in the Children’s Court next week when an order of return for trial to the Central Criminal Court is to be made.
