Groups slam mooted motor tax rise
The expected rise in motor tax in the upcoming Budget has been slammed as regressive by consumer groups.
It's believed that the Minister for Finance, Brian Cowen, will slap a 10% increase on motor tax for people with engines over three litres.
This will amount to a rise of €150 in their yearly motor tax.
It's thought Mr Cowen is being forced to take the step to pay for modest income tax reliefs in the Budget.
