Youth group questions legality of mosquito devices
A leading youth group is raising questions about the legality of the mosquito device designed to prevent loitering by teenagers.
The devices, which are believed to have been installed outside a number of convenience stores in Ireland, emit an annoying, high-pitched tone that can only be heard by young people, whose hearing is more acute than adults'.
Youth Work Ireland is calling on the Gardaí to liaise with the DPP on whether the system constitutes an assault under the law.
