FG Senator suspects disagreement in govt over Land Bill

Fine Gael Senator Paul Coghlan has accused the Government of misleading the people over its confusing position on "The Designated Land Bill".

One of the proposals in the Bill would force owners to sell acquired land if not properly developed for housing use within a specific time.

The controversial section has been termed the "use it or lose it" option.

However Senator Paul Coghlan said Minister for the Environment John Gormley revealed recently in the Dáil that the Government would not proceed with this measure even though it is contained in the Programme for Government.

He said it's clear that the Greens and Fianna Fáil in Government can't agree on this.
