Derry: Police get more time to question murder suspect

Detectives investigating the murder of a teenager in Derry were today given an extra 36 hours to question a suspect.

The 30-year-old was arrested following the murder of Wendy McAteer, 17, whose body was found near waste ground close to the high school she had left last year in Limavady, Co Derry, on Wednesday night.

Her body was found on the same dimly-lit pathway where 37-year-old Michael McGinnis was found murdered in July – detectives are not linking the two killings and a man has been charged with that murder.

Wendy had been in Clark’s Bar in Limavady with friends on Wednesday afternoon and left in the early evening.
