Gardai release one in Latvian mother's murder probe
One of two men arrested in connection with the murder of Latvian Baiba Saulite has been released without charge, gardai said tonight.
The man in his 40s was taken into custody yesterday to Coolock Garda Station, Dublin.
The second man, also in his 40s, remains in custody in Swords Garda Station.
He was also arrested yesterday at his home in Allenwood, Co Kildare.
The arrests came one day after the Garda team probing the fatal shooting of the mother-of-two issued a fresh appeal for information on the murder.
The 28-year-old was gunned down as she stood in the doorway of her home in Holywell Square, Swords, Co Dublin, on November 19 last year.
Her sons – Ali-Alexsandra, five, and Mohamed Rami, three – were asleep in the house at the time of the attack.
She was buried in her native Riga in December.
Some 18 people, including the latest arrests, have now been formally questioned in connection with the killing, but no charges have been brought.
It is understood Ms Saulite knew she was in danger prior to her murder.
Crimestoppers offered a 10,000 euro reward for information on the suspected contract killing.
Threats were also made against her Swords-based solicitor, whose home was petrol-bombed in February last year.
