Tallaght Hospital has been hit by the winter vomiting bug.

A statement released today from the Adelaide and Meath Hospital, which incorporates the National Children's Hospital, said several clusters of affected patients had been identified.

The hospital is reminding patients that the winter vomiting virus does not require hospital treatment, and those with symptoms should contact their GP where possible in the first instance.

Tallaght Hospital is also placing restrictions on visitor numbers, in an attempt to prevent the spread of the bug.
