Electricity back for half of Dublin homes hit by blackout

Electricity has been restored to around 5,000 homes in Dublin, which were left without power following a fire at a sub-station yesterday morning.

More than 10,000 homes in total were affected in the Clondalkin area of the city.

Crews are now working to fix the problem, and the ESB says all power should be restored by this evening.

A spokesman for the company says it is believed the blaze was caused by faulty machinery at the sub-station.
