USI: Wait for learning disability assessments may cost students

It is claimed that waiting lists of up to two years for State-funded psychological assessments of students with specific learning disabilities is causing both personal and financial hardship.

It is claimed that waiting lists of up to two years for State-funded psychological assessments of students with specific learning disabilities is causing both personal and financial hardship.

The USI is concerned that students may have to foot the bill themselves if proposals from the Disability Advisors Working Network are implemented.

Colleges currently request a report from the previous five years, but if the Network's recommendations are adopted, students would be required to provide another assessment conducted in the past three years.
