SF councillor ‘was target of recent aborted attack’

A Sinn Féin councillor in the North says she has been informed by the police that she was the target of a recent aborted attack.

Briege Meehan, who represents the Belfast suburb of Glengormley, says the PSNI told her last night that she had been the target of a planned attack earlier in the day.

Earlier this week, the party said five of its councillors in north Belfast had been warned that they were being targeted by dissident republicans due to their membership of local policing partnerships.
