Internationally renowned journalist Seymour Hersh will tonight deliver the Amnesty International lecture in Trinity College, Dublin.

The award-winning investigative reporter is best known for his articles exposing US military abuse of detainees at Iraq’s Abu Ghraib prison, which he broke in 2004.

He is the man behind some of America’s most controversial stories, including revealing the Vietnam War’s My Lai Massacre.

It involved the mass killing of up to 500 unarmed Vietnamese civilians by US soldiers.

Aged 70, he has worked for the Associated Press and New York Times and is currently with the New Yorker.

Organisers said tickets have been snapped up for tonight’s speech, in which he is expected to give an analysis of the Bush Administration’s intentions with regard to Iran and the Middle East.
