Woman killed in Co Kilkenny accident

A woman was killed today after the car she was driving was in collision with a truck.

The 31-year-old died from her injuries after the early morning crash at Barretstown, near Knocktopher in Co Kilkenny.

Gardaí said the woman, a non-Irish national, was driving a car on the N9 when it hit a truck at around 6.45am.

The man driving the lorry was taken to St Luke's Hospital in Kilkenny City for medical treatment but he is not believed to have serious injuries.

The road was sealed off for technical examination by Garda road traffic collision investigators.

The woman's body was removed to St Luke's Hospital while gardaí at Thomastown are investigating.
