SAA to discuss failure to pass on Aer Lingus warning
The Shannon Airport Authority is holding an emergency meeting today to discuss the news that the Dublin Airport Authority had advance knowledge of the Aer Lingus decision to end Shannon-Heathrow services.
It emerged yesterday that the DAA was informed of the plan in June by an official from the Department of Transport, but failed to tell the local management in Shannon.
The SAA has already expressed disappointment at the revelation and lobby groups say an early warning could have helped Shannon secure alternative services.
However, the DAA says it did not pass on the information because it was provided in the strictest confidence.
