New Government figures show the majority of convicted sex offenders are not undergoing treatment in prison and are not being monitored after their release.

Only eight of the almost 300 sex offenders currently in Irish prisons have agreed to take part in a treatment programme, while more than 900 are living without supervision after being released back into the community.
