IPU calls on members to resume dispensing methadone
The Irish Pharmaceutical Union is today calling on its members to resume methadone provision to patients.
The IPU said that it was making the call because of concerns that the HSE's contingency plans to continue providing methadone are failing.
The union also said that it believes meaningful talks on the matter will commence in the coming days.
In all, 140 pharmacists in Dublin and Wicklow have been refusing to provide methadone to more than 3,000 patients since last week because of a dispute with the HSE regarding the markup on wholesale prices for drugs.
The IPU said today that it is confident its members will now resume methadone dispensing in the coming days.
