Two thirds of patients forced to wait long periods in accident and emergency are in Dublin.

New data from the HSE shows that the A&E unit at Beaumont Hospital accounts for more than 25% of patients nationally who experience unacceptable delays.

The Mater and Blanchardstown Hospital were next in line for delays exceeding 12 hours.

Fine Gael TD John Bruton has said that if these issues are not addressed now, there will be less money in the years ahead as economic growth declines.
