Ombudsman decides not to appeal Quinn Direct ruling

The Financial Services Ombudsman has decided not to appeal a court ruling in favour of Quinn Direct over fees for transferring motor insurance policies.

The Ombudsman had instructed the company the repay fees of €25 it imposed on people switching their policies from one vehicle to another over the past six years.

However, the High Court later overturned the instruction.

Instead of appealing the outcome, the Ombudsman's office has decided to refer the matter to the Minister for Finance so he can consider legislative changes.
