Students unhurt as bus and van in collision

A van driver has been hospitalised following a crash in Co Offaly this morning involving a bus carrying students.

A van driver has been hospitalised following a crash in Co Offaly this morning involving a bus carrying students.

The two vehicles were in collision just after 9am on the bridge in the town of Clara.

Gardaí say around 20 students were on the bus, but all escaped without serious injury.

The van driver, however, was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Around 18 months ago, 15-year-old Michael White died when his school bus overturned near Rahan as it was bringing pupils from Clara to a nearby secondary school.
