Senior gardaí have reportedly dismissed suggestions that the Army should be drafted in to help tackle gangland crime.

Reports this morning say the idea was put forward in the Dáil yesterday by Fine Gael TD Charlie Flanagan and Justice Minister Brian Lenihan said he would pass it on to the Garda Commissioner.
