Pensioner attacked with hammer in Armagh

An 84-year-old man has suffered serious head injuries in a hammer attack in Co Armagh.

The victim was attacked by a man who went on a rampage with a hammer at a service station in Waringstown last night.

The attacker smashed up the shop and damaged several cars in the forecourt before assaulting the pensioner.

A man has been arrested in connection with the incident, while the victim is in a stable condition in hospital.
