Cigarettes must stay under wraps in shops

The display of cigarettes in shops will soon be illegal, it emerged today.

Minister for Health Mary Harney has asked retailers to suggest a timescale for the phasing in of the regulations, which flow from The Public Health (Tobacco) Acts 2002 and 2004.
