Teenage girl attacked in the North

A teenage girl was subjected to a brutal sex attack on a train station platform in broad daylight, police in the North revealed today.

The victim was assaulted by a man as she waited at Whiteabbey railway halt in Co Antrim.

And detectives believe a group of schoolboys may have witnessed what happened.

The girl, said to be in her mid-teens, was approached and attacked at around 4.15pm last Thursday.

As police disclosed details today, they urged any witnesses to contact them.

They especially want to hear from three boys, thought to be in school uniforms, who were standing on the opposite, Larne-bound platform, at the time.
