Gardaí launched a murder investigation today into the death of a man found in his apartment in north Dublin.

Gardaí launched a murder investigation today into the death of a man found in his apartment in north Dublin.

The body of retired executive Finbar Dennehy, 50, was discovered at the property in Seafield Road East, Clontarf, at around 2.30pm on Wednesday afternoon.

It is understood the victim was found lying on a couch by a friend.

A Garda spokesman said today: “Gardaí from Clontarf garda station, Dublin, have commenced a murder investigation following a post mortem on the body of a man found in an apartment at Seafield Road East.”

The results of a post mortem examination are believed to show that the man was stabbed and died violently.

A media briefing by senior officers is due to take place later at Clontarf garda station.
