Shooting prompts Garda murder investigation

The fatal shooting of a man in north Dublin has sparked a murder investigation, gardaí said today.

The incident occurred at Casement Park in Finglas around 4am.

The crime scene has been preserved pending a full technical examination by forensic officers. The name of the dead man has not yet been released by gardaí.

Meanwhile, a 19-year-old man was shot in the Island Field area of Limerick city at 1.30am today.

He was admitted to Mid-West Regional Hospital where he underwent surgery.
