A Government-appointed advisory group is reportedly recommending that An Garda Síochána be run like a private company, with a partly civilianised board of management.

Reports this morning say the group has severely criticised the Gardaí's existing record on civilianisation, dismissing a 2001 plan to civilianise 500 posts over a 21-year period.
