Gardaí investigate shootings in Dublin and Limerick

Gardaí are investigating two overnight shootings in Dublin and Limerick, one of which left a young man needing hospital treatment.

The victim was shot in the chest on Carton Terrace in the Ballymun area of north Dublin at around 9.30pm last night.

He was rushed to the Mater Hospital, where his condition is described as stable.

In Limerick, meanwhile, a number of shots were fired at a house in the Sarsfield Gardens area of Moyross at around 1am this morning.

A family with four children were inside at the time, but nobody was injured.
