GAA leaders call for health screening after sudden deaths

GAA leaders have called for the introduction of health screening for children at primary school level, in a bid to curb sudden deaths from heart conditions.

It follows the tragic death of 13-year-old Patrick Devlin in Co Tyrone yesterday.

He collapsed and died during a GAA training session at Ardboe - the fourth youngster to have died while playing sport in Ireland this week.

A GAA spokesperson has said the local community is reeling from the tragedies.
