North Dublin bomb scare a hoax

The defence forces say the device found strapped to a car in a North Dublin suburb this morning was an elaborate hoax.

The defence forces say the device found strapped to a car in a North Dublin suburb this morning was an elaborate hoax.

Residents of Grange Abbey Grove in Baldoyle were evacuated from their homes shortly after nine o'clock this morning after Gardai were alerted.

The Army Bomb Disposal Unit was called in and after examining the device deemed it a hoax and residents were allowed return to their homes.

The device has been handed over to the Gardaí for technical examination.
