Counselling services have been made available to students at Moate Community School in Co Westmeath after the sudden death of a teenage pupil at the school yesterday.

Sixteen-year-old Tony Parker from Nahad, Mount Temple was on his second day back at school when he collapsed during PE class and died.

Efforts to revive the student failed. The emergency services were called and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The fifth-year student was due to receive his Junior Cert results next week.
