Soldiers fined over YouTube video

Three Irish soldiers have been fined after an incident in Liberia in which two of them were shown pointing a weapon at members of the public.

Three Irish soldiers have been fined after an incident in Liberia in which two of them were shown pointing a weapon at members of the public.

The third soldier had uploaded a video of the incident onto YouTube in May.

The soldiers had been on peacekeeping duties with the UN at the time.

The fines followed a military hearing in Stephens Barracks, Kilkenny, where all three are stationed.

They ranged from €150 to €250.

All soldiers involved accepted the findings of the hearing.
