Kenny criticises Govt on Shannon decision

The Fine Gael Leader has broken his silence on the crisis at Shannon Airport following the decision by Aer Lingus to withdraw its Shannon Heathrow service.

Enda Kenny had been criticised in some quarters for his silence on the Shannon controversy, which is now in its fourth week.

He met local Fine Gael TDs and Councillors in Ennis last night and has been meeting business and lobby groups in Shannon today.

The Aer Lingus decision flies in the face of government policy according to Deputy Kenny.

"This problem was not caused by Fine Gael and we will attempt to hold the Government to account publicly and in the Dáil on its resumption", he said.
