Memorial climb in Kerry for drowned rock climber

A memorial climb for the famous American rock climber Michael Reardon is taking place at the Gap of Dunloe in County Kerry this evening.

A memorial climb for the famous American rock climber Michael Reardon is taking place at the Gap of Dunloe in County Kerry this evening.

Mr Reardon was killed by a freak wave on Valencia Island last month after just completing a climb there.

His body as not yet been recovered.

His wife and daughter, along with some of Michael's friends travelled to Valentia for a memorial service, where a plaque for Michael was unveiled.

This evening's climb coincides with a special memorial being held in California.
