A 26-year-old man was injured in a shooting in Inchicore in Dublin last night.

A 26-year-old man was injured in a shooting in Inchicore in Dublin last night.

The incident happened on Tyrconnell road shortly before midnight.

Gardaí were called to the scene and found the man with gunshot wounds to his leg - he was brought to St James' Hospital, where his injuries are non-life threatening.

It's understood that the victim was approached by a lone gunman who fired two shots.

He then escaped on foot in the direction of Jamestown Court.

The scene has been sealed off for a technical examination.

Gardaí at Kilmainham are investigating the incident.
