Tyrone pork shipment stopped from entering Japan
A shipment of pork from Co Tyrone has been stopped from entering Japan as a result of the foot-and-mouth disease outbreak in England.
The EU has exempted the North from the ban on UK meat exports implemented in the wake of the Surrey outbreak.
However, the meat from Grampian Pork Products in Cookstown was still stopped from entering Japan as its health licence said it was produced in Britain and the North.
The company says it is not good news for pig farmers in the North and the situation needs to be clarified.
