Gardaí may not give evidence in Omagh bomb civil case

The Omagh Victims Group says it would be a devastating blow if Gardaí are prevented from giving evidence in the civil action against the bomb suspects.

Reports today say Gardaí who investigated the case south of the border will not be able to give evidence in case it jeopardises the ongoing criminal inquiry.

The Omagh families are taking the civil case against convicted Real IRA leader Michael McKevitt, along with four others in the Republic.

Spokesman Michael Gallagher says he has had no indication that the Gardaí were unwilling to co-operate and any such move would be devastating if it turns out to be true.
