Three pedestrians have been killed on the country's roads overnight.

Three pedestrians have been killed on the country's roads overnight.

At 1.50am this morning a male pedestrian in his 50's was struck by a car at Glebe, Oughterard, County Galway.

He was fatally injured and was pronounced dead at the scene.

In Cork, just over an hour and a half later, another pedestrian lost his life.

The man, who was in his 20s, was fatally injured when he was struck by a van on the South Link Road, between the Kinsale Road roundabout and the Sarsfield Road roundabout.

And in Donegal a 19-year-old woman died after she was struck by a car at Dooballagh in Letterkenny shortly after 4am.
