Rosslare used as transit point for trafficked children
A BBC investigation into child smuggling across Europe has found that Ireland is being used to traffic children into the UK.
The report includes an interview with a child smuggler who says he uses Rosslare Port to transfer children which have been bought by people in Britain.
This investigation focused on the sale and trafficking of children from Bulgaria into Britain.
The undercover team of reporters set up a meeting with one man who said he was a convicted people-smuggler.
He offered to sell a child to one of them for between €50,000 and €60,000.
The man said his favourite route to smuggle children was through France and Ireland.
In particular, he mentioned the Cherbourg to Rosslare ferry route.
Three men have been arrested since the BBC report was published.
