Mahon to hear further evidence from AIB officials
The Mahon Tribunal will hear further evidence from AIB staff today before closing down for its summer holidays.
The bank officials will be questioned further about their handling of information to do with the Taoiseach's finances.
Significant contradictions emerged yesterday in the evidence of AIB employee Jim McNamara.
Mr McNamara, who dealt with the Bertie Ahern's finances, will face more questions today about why evidence he gave the inquiry earlier this year was at odds with bank records.
Yesterday, he admitted that he investigated foreign exchange accounts for the Taoiseach over two years ago.
Yet in April of this year, he told the inquiry that he had no conclusive evidence of any foreign exchange element to the transactions.
Meanwhile, it has also emerged that both Mr Ahern and his former partner Celia Larkin sought details from AIB concerning substantial foreign exchange transactions before these same dealings came under scrutiny by the tribunal.
