Tribunal sitting cancelled again due to Gilmartin illness

This morning's sitting of the Mahon Tribunal has been cancelled because of the illness of key witness Tom Gilmartin.

This morning's sitting of the Mahon Tribunal has been cancelled because of the illness of key witness Tom Gilmartin.

Yesterday, the 73-year-old told the inquiry that he has occasional problems with low blood pressure.

This is the second time this week that the morning sitting has been cancelled due to Mr Gilmartin's ill health.

This afternoon's hearing is due to go ahead as scheduled, with further evidence due from AIB bank official Jim McNamara, who handled the Taoiseach's finances.

Mr McNamara admitted yesterday that it was most unusual that he had received a phonecall from Bertie Ahern asking what evidence the bank had about certain foreign exchange transactions being queried by the tribunal.
