Man's body recovered from Galway river

The body of a 56-year-old man was recovered from a river in Co Galway today.

The body of a 56-year-old man was recovered from a river in Co Galway today.

Gardaí were investigating the circumstances of his death but said there was nothing to indicate foul play was involved.

The body was recovered from the small river in the town of Loughrea at an area known as the Moate shortly after 11.30am. The man is believed to have lived locally.

The body was taken to the Portiuncula Hospital where a post mortem will be carried out later.
