Couple pay tribute to hospital staff and well-wishers

The elderly English couple who were viciously beaten and robbed in Co Louth last month have expressed their gratitude for the care they received in hospital and the concern showed by ordinary people.

Jock and Kath Fordyce, who are both in their 60s and from Yorkshire, had parked their camper van for the night when they were attacked by a gang who ransacked and stole the vehicle.

They suffered serious injuries, but say their ordeal would not put them off visiting Ireland again.

Speaking from their home in Skegness, they say those responsible were savages, but the care they got in hospital was wonderful and they were overwhelmed by the number of cards, letters and flowers they received.
