Greens to back divisive co-location plan in Dáil vote
The Green Party is set to back Fianna Fáil's divisive plans to allow private health facilities on the grounds of public hospitals during a vote in the Dáil this week.
Fine Gael is to put forward a private members' motion calling for the so-called co-location project to be scrapped.
It says more than one million voters at last month's general election backed parties which opposed the controversial scheme.
The Greens were one of those parties, but they are now set to vote in favour of co-location following their decision to go into government with Fianna Fáil.
They have, however, secured a commitment that the whole project will be reviewed in four years' time.
They also claim Fine Gael was prepared to support co-location when it tried to woo the Progressive Democrats as potential coalition partners last month.
