Teen told garda: 'I have judges in my pocket'
A teenage suspected heroin dealer who told a Garda that he had “all the judges in the Children’s Court wrapped around his little finger”, was remanded in custody today.
The 17-year-old west Dublin boy had been brought before the Dublin Children’s Court last week following his arrest for alleged drug dealing.
The court had heard that when he was cautioned he told Garda Siobhan Moran of Kevin Street Station: “I have all the judges in the Children’s Court wrapped around my little finger - I’ll get out of this.”
Twenty bench warrants had previously been issued for the teen for not attending his court cases.
The teen had then been remanded on bail with strict conditions to appear again today.
As part of his bail terms, he had been ordered to obey a curfew, sign on twice daily at his local Garda station and not to frequent the Dublin 8 area.
Today, Garda Moran reported to Judge Patrick Clyne that the boy had not signed on at the Garda station at all and he had been spotted six times in areas in Dublin 8 from which he had been barred.
The teen, who was accompanied to court by his mother, claimed he had been passing through to stay with his father in the area, due to other family difficulties.
However, Judge Clyne was told that the boy’s father lived two miles from the areas in which he had been seen loitering six times.
Judge Clyne revoked bail and remanded the boy in custody to St Patrick’s Institution to appear again next week.
