NGOs challenge US report on human trafficking
A coalition of Irish groups is challenging a US Government report claiming that human trafficking is not a major problem in Ireland.
The groups, which include Amnesty International, the Migrant Rights Centre and the National Women's Council, say the US State Department is wrong to conclude that there have only been a small number of human trafficking cases in Ireland.
They say there is definitive evidence to show that more than 100 people have been trafficked into Ireland for sexual exploitation and forced labour.
The groups say the US report is littered with inaccuracies and serves no purpose in tackling the problem.
