O'Tool 'not a candidate for PSNI Ombudsman'

Kathleen O'Toole says she is not a candidate for PSNI Ombudsman role.

The head of the Garda Inspectorate said this afternoon that she was not a candidate for the post of Police Ombudsman of the North.

In a statement, Chief Inspector Kathleen O'Toole denied reports that she was one of the five candidates short listed for the post.

She says she did not submit an application for the position.

The Chief Inspector also said she remained entirely committed to her current position with the Garda Inspectorate.
