Man charged with assault after Corrib pipeline clashes

Gardaí in Co Mayo have charged a man with assault following clashes during a protest at the Corrib gas project last night.

The trouble flared when demonstrators from the Shell to Sea group tried to prevent contractors from erecting a temporary cabin at Pollothomas pier as part of the project.
