Search continues for swimmer missing on River Corrib

Rescuers are continuing to search for a woman who went missing while swimming on the River Corrib near Galway city over the weekend.

The woman, who is in her 30s and was part of a group camping in the area, is believed to have entered the water close to Menlo Castle on Saturday.

Her friends became concerned and raised the alarm when she failed to rejoin the group on Saturday evening.

A search was immediately mounted, but it has failed to find any trace of her.
